Very sorry to hear of Noel's death. He had a wonderful gift with young people teaching us swimming and lifesaving and letting us hang out as teens. He took all the noisy fun and occasional messing in his good humoured stride. A very special person. And always insisted that I say I was from The Quarry not MItchel Street! Rest in peace.

It's probably little comfort at this difficult time but Noel left a wonderful legacy behind that you can all be very proud of - a wonderful family and thought generations of kids in Thurles how to swim. A pure gentleman.

Noel was an institution in Thurles Town and enhanced the lives of a multitude of people over many years. Always a kind and patient man with a great knowledge of Thurles, loved a good joke and a chat.

Our sincere sympathies to the Gaynor family on the death of Noel RIP. Like so many others I got to know Noel bringing children to the Swimming Pool, in my case Presentation Ballingarry students. He was always so vigilant, helpful and supportive to the students, those that could swim & especially those who were nervous learners. Noel would always have a few words when we’d meet on the street. He was one of the very best. May Noel rest in peace.

He gave endlessly to the children of Thurles during his time at Thurles Swimming Pool teaching swimming and lifeguard skills. His legacy will live on for generations as his pupils went on to teach many many others.
I am one of those fortunate enough to have had Noel as a kind and passionate swim teacher in my teens and for which I am forever grateful.
