I was very saddened to hear of Padraig's death. He was my brothers teacher in St. Pauls many years ago. Our paths crossed again in recent years, and he always enquired about my brother. He was a kind man. My condolence to his family.

Sincere sympathy to Esther and the Aherne family at this sad time. I knew Padraig from his work in St. Paul's, with the Special Olympics and Cope Foundation. He was held in great esteem by all who knew him. It was always a pleasure to meet him. Loved the chats about sport, especially Cork hurling, football, camogie, etc. It was lovely meeting him in recent times at coffee break on Thursdays at the garden centre. May he rest in peace.

I’m so sorry to hear about Pádraig, my sincere condolences to Esther, James and Patrick.
I have great memories from my childhood of being in Montenotte Grove, in your house, playing pool, watching movies, the excitement of going in on New Year’s Eve, and the fantastic times visiting the farmhouse in Ballineen during the summer, made so special by the great hospitality of Padraig and Esther.

I’m sorry to see this. I remember meeting Pádraig in Cope Foundation many years back. Such a wonderful soul so fun loving! We performed together for a charity production in Glasheen, he was wonderful to be around. May he find the reward in heaven for all his work. R.I.P. Pádraig

Padraig was an amazing and perfect gentleman. He helped our son Brendan with his Special Olympics experience, especially in the National games up in Dublin. He was an asset to St. Paul's special school and will be sorely by everyone xxx
