In Remembrance of Pat Joe Connolly.
It’s with a heavy heart and a sense of gratitude that I write this about our dear friend Pat Joe and his time spent with the Durrus Mens Shed.
A true gentleman, who will be greatly missed by all members. Like all new comers, when Pat Joe joined he seemed shy, and quiet but he was soon intermingling with everyone else in whatever was the task of the day. Willing to try his hand at anything, he joined the quartet who signed up for the fit for life course at Phillips Green, with about a dozen ladies all who had a better idea of what to do. We were like storks standing on spindly wobbly legs but great fun was had laughing at each other. He settled into the group so effortlessly and took part in many memorable activities from meditation class to the weekly pub quiz, and he often joined in with a sing song and made the best of his nights out. In the time he was part of our group he contributed to so many projects from helping to repair picnic benches, building raised beds, and many more too numerous to mention. He was a great addition to the group, ever willing to help. Enjoying our discussions around the shed stove on many a rainy Friday morning, eating rashers on sourdough bread. Pat Joe we all miss your company and with great affection remember the special times we shared. Fly high our friend and we will all meet some day in the big men’s shed in the sky.
