Grandy, I will miss you so much, but it gives me great comfort knowing you are back together with nana. Thank you for loving and respecting me. The last year was so tough for you without nana, but I am in awe of the strength you had in keeping going with that Hollywood smile on your face. That strength you have passed on to mum and us, and I know you have been beside me in the last few days when I have had to be the strongest I have ever been. I will cherish the memories with you, in particular the last year and I hope I helped keep you happy in some capacity. You often spoke of how lucky you were to find nana, but she was also lucky to find you - a kind, compassionate man with the ability to forgive; a quality that many people do not possess and the sign of a true Christian.

Thank you for welcoming Shane the Yellow Belly into the Murray family; he loved the banter with you and you were a pure gentleman to him.

To Mum, thank you for everything you did for Grandy over the last year; you ensured his quality of life was the best it could be in his final days, particularly on Tuesday night on his journey to heaven.

Grandy - you leave quite the legacy behind you and the Murray family have big shoes to fill. We will do our best to live up to the Murray name.

Grandy words can never convey how much I will miss you. To my Mum Helen and all the Murray family thank you so much for allowing me help care for Grandy in his final year of life. Many times Grandy we sat chatting together in "Hillcrest" and at social events - It was your kind, caring, placid, smiling nature that drew me to you and you to me(you would say) and possibly our love for tea and especially chocolate which I always carry in my bag with me and we would scoff the lot :) You have told me so many times that you want me to meet a lovely young man-"nothing but the best Suzy" you would say- and settle down but I would always reply if I meet someone like you Grandy I would marry them in a heartbeat and you would laugh.

Sleep tight in heaven grandy with nana and all your family. Rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to all in the Murray family on your devastating loss , and please accept my apologies for not being able to travel for the funeral as I desperately wanted to pay my respects in person as Peter was such a lovely man. Peter was never less than a true gentleman - always very dapper- and made me feel very welcome into the Murray family when I married Clodagh , to whom he meant the world . Peter was fiercely loyal had a determined single mindedness about getting things done and was a hard working man with endless energy - traits he has passed on to Clodagh and his grandchildren Andrew , Michael , Joseph and Olivia . He always enjoyed seeing the grandchildren and always wanted to know what they were up to in later years , he loved having a good laugh and had an endless supply of funny stories . He lived a long and full life and now on his final journey to be re-united with his beloved Noeline , he must know he was so loved by all our family and that he leaves a gaping hole in our lives that will never be filled .

Mum(Helen) and all the Murray family, I am so sorry to hear of Grandy's passing. I always meant to come home soon and see him again and tell him that I had made something of myself. I'm sad I didn't get to do that although I'm sure Mum filled him in. I know he used to make me feel really good about myself when I’d talk to him. He always seemed proud of anything I told him I’d done, even if I wasn’t particularly proud or impressed by the accomplishment myself. He was a kind, caring gentleman-"a handsome good looking man" as he would always say himself with a twinkle in those blue eyes :) I have fond memories of him growing up. He was good to me, my Mum and family and always put a smile on our faces.

Peter, it was a privilege to know you. I'm a better man for it. The name Peter means rock and you were always Helen's rock. You always told her to use her voice and stand up for what she thought was right. I've always had deep boots to fill. You were so wise, a true gentleman and the epitome of what true love between a man and a woman means. I will miss the banter of Wednesday's and Thursday's and the game of 25. You thought myself and Helen were quite like you and Noeline - a team. The kids adored you as did Helen and I-you were a father figure to me as my own father died so young. You always had a welcome for us in Hillcrest-your smile & handshake was relentless-it will never be the same without you there. Your visits to us with Noeline, and sometimes on your own when out for your walk meant a great deal to us over the years- they were so special and we and our children remember them vividly. It was Helen's, mine, Lisa & Suzy's privilege and pleasure to take care of you on Wednesdays and Thursdays and especially the last Saturday you were with us. We will treasure our memories together with you forever-you were one of a kind.
