Deepest sympathy to Pauline,Fr.Martin and extended Morrissey families. Fr John married us in 1980 and christened our son while he was in Dalgan Park. We have great memories of visiting him in Florida over the years. We experienced the great relationship he had with his parishioners and the friendship and respect they had for him. RIP Father John.

I knew Fr John since 1956 in Flannans where he played centre field on the football team though I was 4years behind him I regarded him as a gentle giant who had time for everyone. MAY he now rest in eternal peace which he so richly deserves .0

We were cousins and friends for over 70 yrs and I still have fond memories of working on Morrissey’s farm with him and playing football in Cooraclare GAA back in the 1950’s. John will be sorely missed by his family and all who knew him. May he rest in the peace of the Good Lord.

John taught me in Dalgan in the late 1970's. I remember him as a kind and generous man. He will be missed to all who knew him. My sympathies to his family, the Columbans and all who knew him in Florida.

As a student in Fiji in the 80s I came to know Fr John RIP. He was a great support to me in settling into a new country. My condolences to the Morrissey family and the Columbans at this sad time.

Fr John, who was then lecturing in the Columban Seminary in Dalgan, baptised my son Cathal in Ratoath in 1977. Subsequently, I ran with him occasionally when he was ministering in the Harrington Street parish, Dublin. Not only was he an excellent footballer, he was also a decent runner.
