My sympathy to Rowan & the Spencer family on the untimely death of Dick. I was one of the UCC class of 1972. Last met Dick at a 50th UCC reunion in Sept 2022 - interesting conversation as always, including Bantry Music Festival. I so enjoyed his operatic style of singing at the reunions.

Sincere condolences on the passing of your father and brother. I spent a lot of time with Richard over the last 30 years in San Francisco. From concerts at S.F. Jazz, the Fillmore, and the Great American Music Hall, to walks in the park, to hanging out with my crew from Bishopstown, to Warriors and Giants games, to communions, confirmations and graduations at Saint Brendan and beyond, to kids sporting events, always leading back to dinners, celebrations, and many late nights on Juanita Way, Richard and Rowan were there as part of our family. We had many deep conversations on every topic known that started early and ended late. His time here has ended so let him continue those conversations and going to gigs in Heaven. May you rest in peace Richard.

My sincere condolences to the extended Spencer family on Dick's sudden passing. I enjoyed his company in our B.Comm class of 1968/72 and at our reunions since then. Always interesting to meet up with and a really nice guy. When he sang at our outings he sure was a hard act to follow. Great memories and RIP Dick.

I met Dick in October 1968. We were friends from the start. Great years in UCC are remembered as we enjoyed our undergraduate years Nights in the Star and Ludgates and the great sing songs Over the years Dick came home for The Bantry Music Festival ,Munster Finals, All irelands and of course a few years at home for Listowel Festival when we stayed in Ballybunion These are some of the memories -Tears are shed and prayers are being said - Good bye my Fiend Good Bye

At my behest Richard Spencer and Frank Ahern co-produced a very successful Irish Forum production of Molly Bloom with Siobhan McKenna at the ACT Theater in San Francisco in early 1980s. Richard was a dashing presence on the scene. I remember him singing for all of us at one of Breda Courtney's Wilde Irish Theatre parties in Berkeley. I’m shocked by the sudden death of our friend Richard. He introduced me to White Water Rafting on the Russian River , U2 and the Joshua Tree public concert on Market St. and the Embarcadero in San Francisco .The poet Seamus Heaney in Berkeley.

Condolences to the family. My father Donie was a neighbour and school friend of Richards. While I was in San Fran working for a summer Richard took myself and my friend to Sonoma valley for a day out ,he was such a kind man and we had the best day full of fun and laughter.
