Sam was a friendly, helpful, gentle-natured man who made life better for anyone who came into contact with him at Kevin Street Library. We were so sorry to hear of his sudden passing. Deepest sympathy to his family and close friends. God bless.
Sending my love and thoughts to the Connolly family at this horrendous time. I attended UCD with Sam. We shared much laughter and conversation and I still have a notebook from him to draw in. A marvellous naturalist and such a good person in this world. Thinking of you all.

I am so sorry to hear of Sam's untimely death, and offer his family my deepest sympathies. I knew Sam only through Kevin Street Library, but I always enjoyed my interractions with him there, and found him friendly, warm, professional and interested to hear what I had thought of each book I returned (so that he could pass on comments to other borrowers).
I often pop in to Kevin Street Library on my lunchbreak. I only found out today about Sam's untimely passing. I am shocked. I often spoke to him about crosswords and the like. He was a kind, unassuming and gentle person.

My sincere condolences to all the Connolly family. I will miss him on my visits to the library. Thinking of all his family at this very sad time.

I just learnt today about his passing away. Such a loss, a decent and kind man. He encouraged my daughter to continue reading, and we always had great discussions on philosophy, technology and other worldly matters. He shall be missed, my sincere condolences to his family.
Sincere condolences on the untimely passing of Sam. Before Covid he was often assigned to work in the Reading Room at Dublin City Library & Archive and we were always glad to see him. Sam was knowledgeable, calm and hardworking and he engaged so well with the staff and the public - everyone liked him. So much sympathy to Sam’s family and especially to his sister Amy, who also works for Dublin City Libraries.
Condolences to all the Connolly family on the sad passing of Sam. Sam was ever so helpful and patient with our children on weekly trips to Kevin Street library. Sam and I worked together a lot in Marino during the Covid pandemic and it was always a pleasure. His Facebook posts and YouTube videos were always of great interest. I will always remember how kind and welcoming Sam was when I first joined the libraries. Later, I was always delighted to be sent to Kevin Street on relief as I knew I would have an enjoyable day with Sam. I learned a lot from him. He was such a lovely person to chat to and will be greatly missed
I worked alongside Sam on a Dublin City Libraries working group. Sam inspired us particularly during Covid lockdowns, with his regular social media posts and nature videos. He was a shining light. Condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace.

Sam's passing is a great loss to his family, to his friends and to his many colleagues in the Public Library service. And indeed to the Library service. Grief is the price we pay for love. But I hope that the beautiful tributes paid to Sam by so many people will provide some comfort and consolation to you all, when these sad days have passed.
Though years have gone by, I remember vividly the Connolly family's support of and enthusiasm for our Public Libraries.

The Connolly family was a very big part of our childhood & wonderful friends to my Dad. I remember one fabulous trip to Ballyconneely where Sam adored all the wildlife sea creature & beauty.
