I was so sorry to hear of the death of my former teacher and friend Seamus McElwee. He never forgot me and used to attend my plays whenever one was staged near him in Donegal, something which I greatly appreciated. I also taught very briefly alongside Seamus and Claire when I did a month's substitute work in St. Mary's NS, Rathowen in 1981 - all wonderful memories.
To Claire, Donal and Cathal and all Seamus' family I extend my deepest sympathy.

I’m so sorry to hear of Seamus’s passing Clare. Seamus was a gentleman to deal with on the various committees that he served on locally. I will miss our chats. RIP Seamus.

Deepest sympathies to the wife,family and friends of the late Seamus MCElwee, may he rest in peace. I remember when he was appointed to our National School, St Mary's Ramelton and I was active on the Parents Council. My children had recently moved from Dublin and had to adjust to a new school, and Seamus was very understanding and helped their settling in. He was also very supportive of the Parents Council and allowed us to take part in our desires to make the school as good as possible, as was indeed his goal along with all the other teachers. He certainly set our children on the path of education and we are very grateful for that. Ar dheist De go rath a anam.

I have very happy memories of meeting Seamas. I will always remember his happy disposition and his warm, friendly smile as well as his erudition.
