We were very sad to hear of Sr. Rose's death. Our deepest sympathy to her family and to the Sisters of Mercy. Sr. Rose was one of our Dublin Street neighbours, always friendly, fun and with lots of time for us children. She was such a nice person, a terrific teacher who had great respect, kindness and lots of encouragement for all of us in her class. She was very talented, teaching and passing on her love of music and singing to us. We have the loveliest memories of her.
Rest in Peace Sr. Rose. I remember you as such a kind gentle lady. A spiritual and caring person to all. I was privileged to know you and work alongside you during our time in the Family Life Centre in Boyle. We kept in touch after you retired and that was a precious time for me.

Deepest sympathy to all of Sr Rose’s extended family and to the Mercy Community. I remember her with fondness. Although I didn’t have her as a class teacher I was lucky enough to have been in choirs she taught both at primary and secondary schools in Longford. She certainly helped to instil a love of choral music in me which has lasted all my life. She was kind and fair and had a lovely warm personality and I think she was very happy in her job as a teacher and in her vocation. I always loved to have a chat with her any time our paths crossed over the years.

I am reading of Sr Rose’s death as her burial takes place. Sr Rose worked alongside many of us in what was then known as the Family Life Centre in Boyle, offering spiritual accompaniment and direction as well as conducting many moving and focused prayer moments for our teams of staff, volunteers and users. Her naturalness and openness were infectious thus facilitating a realness and an interconnection that deepened commitment within the various threads of our focus on bereavement, therapeutic engagement and the remedial work necessary after the experience of domestic violence. Her spirituality was truly a gift to so many. May Rose be warmly within the embrace of the communion of saints that she yearned to join. With gratitude I will be remembering her and all who grieve her at the altar.
