Sincere sympathy to both the Newman and Healy families on the sad passing of Stiofán Also to his colleagues in Mary Immaculate. I was so sorry to hear of his untimely passing. Stiofán was one of my Irish lecturers in Mary I during my time there. In my final year I had him for Irish tutorials. Stiofán created such a warm, welcoming and fun learning environment. He was always so approachable and helpful. Thinking of you all at this extremely difficult time. His legacy will live on. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

I can scarcely believe that Stiofán (as I knew him) is gone from us. He was our academic future and that future has now been severely curtailed. I feel proud and honoured to have been associated with his postgraduate research work at UCC but, more than that, to have come to know such a delightful young man who greatly enriched my life. It is no wonder that his colleagues and students at MIC speak so highly of him. But our grief, genuine as it is, will be as nothing compared to that of his family. I extend my sincere sympathy to all of you, particularly to his wife and sons, to his father and to his sisters. Go dtug Dia sólás díbh go léir.
