Thomas Lande

Tom was my teacher over 50years ago. He was by far the best teacher I've ever had. Mr Lande , as we called him made learning enjoyable and fun . My condolences to all his family and may he rest in peace.

I only now heard of the news about Mr. Lande.
How sad. A genuine inspiration to those he taught.
I met him a couple of years back in Patrick St.,with his wife. He was the same gentleman from all those year back.
I hope he realised the difference he made to our future development.

As a past pupil of Mr Lande in 1976 at Scoil Chríost Rí I really cant say enough about this wonderful man.
Little did I think I would end up making a crystal radio in 6th class.
The personal time this man gave in preperation for his teaching went way past the call of duty. A man way ahead of his time, he engaged with his pupils like no other. His ability to ignite and trigger young peoples brain by his method of teaching was incredible.I can safely say he must have carved out career pathways for students in later life as a result of being privileged to be educated by Thomas. It is great to have such happy memories of time spent in his classroom. May he rest in peace

Tommy Lande, was not only a cherished friend to my Dad, Colm Lynch, Glasheen BNS, but someone our family held in great respect and affection. Their friendship spanned many years and was filled with loyalty, laughter, and unwavering support. Mr Lande was probably one of the best teachers of all time. In the late sixties he was an innovative genius of a teacher, who inspired and encouraged us all…….every boy in our class had equal standing and regard, and it was a joy and privilege to be part of what he set about doing in The South Mon, Douglas Street (part of Scoil Chriost Ri). Over the years , I have often thought of him and how he so contributed to what we all are today.

Mr Lande was a pure gentleman. He taught my late father as well as my brother and myself. He will always be known as Mr Lande to me. I came upon him in recent years in Douglas and he hadn’t changed in the 30 odd years since. He was a visionary teacher who was always so kind to children. It was an honor to be taught by him as well as to know him and of him. May he rest in peace.
