Thomas Lande

We were very saddened to learn of Tom's passing and on behalf of all the directors and members of Presentation Brothers Schools Trust (PBST), we extend our deepest condolences to Ann, Brian, Mark, Orla, Yvonne and Derek and to the extended Lande family. Tom was extraordinarily committed to Scoil Chríost Rí and had an enormous impact on generations of pupils. While being renowned for his pioneering work in promoting technology and computers in the primary school classroom, his contribution was in fact much wider and deeper than that. He was a true educator and his loss will be deeply felt by all in the PBST schools' community. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

I remember many sessions in the early 80,s when Tom, Frank, and myself introduced ourselves and many other Teachers to Suburban Fox and other gems on the BBC Compact computer.
How times have changed.
Tom was always great company and I cherished our friendship and meetings.

Ann, Brian, Mark, Orla, Yvonne, Derek, grandchildren, all relatives and friends I extend my most sincere and heartfelt sympathy on the passing of the wonderful man Tom. He was so kind and caring when my son enrolled in 3rd class at Scoil Chríost Rí back in the 1980s. His goodness will never ever be forgotten by me. Always loved bumping into him occasionally down through the years and it was such a pleasure to chat. We need more people in the World like Tom. I've no doubt having had him for all these years you will carry on his great legacy. May Tom rest peacefully forever in Heaven and may the good Lord comfort each one of you one day at a time. I was one of very many teachers who benefitted greatly from Tommy's generous sharing of his expertise in IT matters during the 1980s. Love and sympathy to Orla, and Mrs Lande and the whole Lande family from me and all the O'Keeffes. Such a kind and lovely man, and he will be greatly missed.

I was lucky enough to have been taught be Mr Lande in the late 70's, however taught is probably too inadequate a word. The man was far ahead of his time. His attitude and methods were inspiring and innovative. I and no doubt many others benefited greatly from his endeavours. Nearly 50 years ago he imparted an appreciation and an understanding of the technical and electronic world that is still relevant today. My condolences to his wife and family and I hope they take some comfort from knowing the positive influence his pupils enjoyed, and I hope Mr Lande himself knew the good he did. Thank you Sir. May you rest in peace.

Mr Lande was my favourite teacher of all time. I had the privilege of having him as my teacher in Third Class, where he gave me my very first introduction to a computer circa 1987, and also sparked my interest in electronics. He was such an inspiration for many of his pupils especially in technology and computers my brothers certainly enjoyed his class and still talk about him my nephews had him later and also say he was a great teacher. I had the pleasure of working with him later myself as an SNA, he was so helpful. Tommy Lande you will never be forgotten thats for sure. You've left your mark on this earth all for the good.

Before Steve Jobs and Bill gates came Tom. He sparked an enthusiasm and passion within us for all things new, emerging and electronic. I remember the circuit boards you helped us build and marvelled at the flashing leds we created. I remember you speaking in class of your pride in your family. Your kindness and compassion set you apart in a time of change in our school system . Rest in peace Tom. You were a pure gentleman and an Irish genius.
