He was such an amazing horseman and watching him cross the country out hunting was an inspiration. You put yourself in extreme danger if you attempted to follow him over blind country. He made ferocious country look easy.

Sincere sympathy to Phil and to Tommy's siblings: our warm friendship goes back a long way. Also to the extended Merrigan family. I have fond memories of Tommy and Gerry at the horse sales in Fairyhouse. They spent many hours viewing the foals on sale with me and in the end I bought a filly foal on their sound advice. We had lots of fun with her offspring and many winners followed, which gave Tommy great joy. I was so sorry I couldn't be there for the removal or the funeral but my thoughts and memories were with you. Rest in peace Tommy. Eddie Holly

It was with great sadness I heard the news of Tommy’s passing. I offer my deepest condolences to Phil, Jane, Wayne, the extended family and all who loved the Mooreshill legend.

Tommy was a very good neighbour to me for many, many years and it’s impossible to think about him without smiling. It’s a lovely legacy to have left.

I wish for strength for the family to get through the very painful days ahead, Tommy will be a huge loss.

Thank you Tommy, for all you did for me, it will always be appreciated.

So many amazing memories of hunting with Tommy, those days were among the best. He had such a big heart and we shared so many laughs. He would ask me to ride up front, and scare the life out of me, but always took care of me at the same time. My heart hurts for Phil, Jane and Wayne and the Merrigan clan. We have lost a great one.
