To Dena and family. I am shocked and immensely saddened to hear about Tommy. Over a great many years Tommy fed me invaluable information about my dad Patrick’s family in Clonakilty and in particular about my grandfather PW O’Donovan. Tommy regaled me with stories of the hotel and it’s historically famous visitors since the 1920s. Tommy will be sorely missed as a local historian and absolute gentleman.

I stayed at O'Donovan's for one week last October and meeting Tommy made my stay even more memorable. He had a quiet, wicked way about him and I could tell there was a giant of a man behind his demeanour that played a huge role in Clonakilty. I am deeply saddened at knowing I will not have to the opportunity to see him again on my next visit. Sending my deepest condolences to his family for this sudden and huge loss. I worked for the hotel 20 years ago and from day one I was very well looked after and felt very much part of a family there, during my time, and a big part of that was Tommy. He always had 'The right advice' for me and I still carry a lot of those learnings with me to this day. My memories of Tommy will always be happy ones. May he rest in peace.

Tom was a genuinely lovely guy, a great character, funny, witty and just decent always helpful and hard working. I had the pleasure of working for him in my brief time as a DJ at the Venue nightclub at the hotel and he was always, appreciative of my work and was always willing to pay me and had a humorour comment to make usually like right thats all your getting tonight, or something along those lines!!

My deepest deepest condolences to all Toms extended family as this massive loss. He was one of the kindest men I ever met.
I have so many memories of him and Dena - when our choir tried to gatecrash the nightclub and were given a firm "go home lads!", and the numerous times he patiently did endless photocopying and printing for me, or held parcels for me, or kept a suitcase for a whole month.
I also have so many memories of our concerts there where nothing was ever too much trouble to arrange.
May his gentle soul rest in peace, and may his family know how many people worldwide are keeping them all in their thoughts and prayers.
