Through his involvement with both St. Mary's GAA and the school, he coached countless juvenile hurling and football teams. His devotion and encouragement left a lasting impact on so many young lives. One of life’s gentleman with an immense passion for hurling. Fortunately he dedicated a huge part of his life to Hurling coaching & improving others in Athenry & beyound. Having played alongside him for the county & crossed swords at club level- my recovery was quicker after county games.

He was always kind and gentle and a great teacher of life and in the classroom. He made sure you knew every river and mountain in Ireland and gave us great encouragement on the sports field. He was a deeply passionate, unstinting hurler who committed so much to Athenry hurling.
As school Principal he instilled that passion in every student including my son whom he coached.
No doubt he'll get the best seat in Heaven to see the Senior Hurling Final today with Cork v Tipperary.
