I was a classmate of Toms from 1966-1969 in the Kylemore Road Tech now Kylemore College . I think the class we were in was 2M. He was a great character with a wicked sense of humour we had some laughs. I did'nt meet him again until around 1976 when he was on the buses and i was in Irish Rail. We had a good chat about the old schooldays, and how we had'nt travelled to far since. Well Tom found his vocation, and he did travel far. In his case "Many are called but few are Chosen" R.I. P Tom and many condolences to your Family.

An often over-used phrase, really did apply to Tom: one of a kind. Tom generously shared his time and knowledge of East Timor with me before I went out to work there from Jan 2000 - June 2001. I learned a lot from him as he traveled out and back and we met again at the independence celebrations. His love for the Timorese shone through all he did. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

I have only been informed of your passing Tom. May your soul rest in eternal peace. Many memories of our school day years.

Tom, or Papa Tom, as most of your Timorese friends call you,

I'm so very sad I was away for what was to be your final year. When I'm in Dili next month I won't be visiting you and your cats, I'll be going to your grave.🕯️

Deepest condolences to all of Tom's family, extended family and friends... may he Rest In Peace.

Tom was an inspiration, an adviser and a friend to all of us involved in solidarity and justice campaigns locally and internationally. His legacy is hope and justice.

Very sorry to learn of the death of Tom. He really put East Timor on the political map in this country and made it his home. May his commitment inspire many others.

Tom I remembered when you started out so many years ago and l know it was not easy for you then but you stuck through it thick and thin. You are a great ambassador who came from Ballyfermot to help the people of East Timor.

When so few knew of the plight of East Timor, you shone a light on this far away country. May your message of compassion live on and may you rest in peace. Thank you, Tom, for your tireless efforts.

My sincerest condolances to Toms family. May he rest in peace. A true legend and a real gentleman. I have fond memories which i will cherish forever. The impact he had on this world was huge. Made the world a better place. Tom will never be forgotten. Marsha

I met and worked with Tom from 1976 to 1978. He was a very nice person and good genuine company. It was amazing to watch his journey through life and the cause that he dedicated his life to. He was a special person. May he rest in peace. Condolences to his family.
