My deepest Condolences for Una, Tony's family and friends. I'm so sad and upset for the loss of my dear friend and neighbour Tony. I have been shocked and lost for words. I experienced Tony to be such a big hearted man. He cared deeply for all living beings and for nature, mostly that all would receive Justice. I will always remember Tony, for his warm smile, his sense of humour and laughter. Many a time I was welcomed to Una and Tony's home and we shared wonderful meals, chatted, laughed, and listened to music, and danced. I've so many happy memories of our times together. There was no doubt how much he loved Una, his family and his beloved dogs, Sami and Roscoe and in return how much he was loved by all. Rest in Peace Tony.
I was so sorry, to hear of the passing of Tony. I had got to know him in the last couple of years through the sustainability committee. Such a lovely person, always with a funny story to tell. I will miss our chats very much. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
Sudden, final and beyond belief. A month on, I still cannot get my head round his untimely passing. I worked with Tony for a cupla years at the NI Community Relations Council (NICRC) as a part-time diversity projects officer (sharing with Joanne M). We'd kept in touch after he went south - but I only met him again a cupla times on visits north - and once, with his dog, in August 2013 when my son Joseph and I were visiting Cork and the old O'Keeffe place at Dromagh. Tony pruned an apple tree for me at our place once - he was, as all of the writers of condolences have said, a 'one-off'. I can't say I ever met anyone like him - and along with those lucky enough to have known him, I'll always remember him. An exemplar. A non-pareil. Gone far too soon. Thinking of you Tony, with love and gratitude, for the unique gift of having known you, and learned from you, for a wee while. To Una and Tony's family and friends. Slan is Beannacht. Philip O'Keeffe, Belfast.
Una, my deepest condolences. Thinking of you and Tony’s family at this time. May all the love on these pages give you strength.
Dear Úna,

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Please accept my deepest condolences to you and all your family.

You are in my thoughts during this difficult time. May the love and support of family and friends offer you comfort and strength.

With heartfelt sympathy,

Joss
I was so sad to hear of Tony's untimely passing. He was a wonderfully kind, witty, generous, fascinating and warm person. I feel very lucky to know him and to have spent a short time as his neighbour in the square and colleague in IndieCork.
Sending much love to Úna, and all of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed xx
My deepest condolences to Una and all Tony's family. Tony was a cool dude, working on music in Algeria when the violence of the 1990s started there, and later generously bringing his deep knowledge of all genres of Algerian music to the rest of us. His support of film and music and art in Cork was also selfless and animated by his understated passion. A huge loss to many. May he rest in peace.
Dear Una very sorry to hear of your great loss Sincere condolences to you and all the family
To Tony's dear family and friends, I'm so very sorry for your loss.
Tony really was one of the best. He showed such kindness, genuine curiosity and generosity to me over the years, and modelled a kind of scholar, sound-maker, and mentor that I can only aspire to. Rest easy, Tony. Sending love and support to all his loved ones, you're in my thoughts.
Úna, there simply are no words. My heart goes out to you, and to Aislinn and Pascal, and to all of Tony’s beloved family and friends. Tony was exceptionally generous-hearted, and he embraced life to the full in such a very inspiring way. Tony’s boundless heart, spirit, creativity, wit and compassion had a profound effect on all who knew and loved him. I have no doubt his spirit will continue to inspire from beyond, but his absence from this plane remains so very hard to fathom. Deepest sympathies to all left behind, and thank you Tony for all the kindness, the humour, the many laughs, the shared music, wonder and wisdom you brought to our world. Your presence is missed beyond words.
I am so saddened and shocked to hear of Tony's passing. He was my lecturer for a time at MIC, and genuinely one of the most fascinating, kind and funny individuals I've ever met while also being a brilliant educator. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. He was a true gentleman who will no doubt be missed by many from all over the world.
Una i am so saddened to hear of your dear Tony’s passing..may his soul rest in eternal peace and your shared memories bring you solace at this heartbreaking time.

Sincere condolences to Tony's family and circle of friends. May he rest in peace.
Our dear friend Tony, thank you for all the warm, funny, and joyful encounters. We will miss your wisdom, generosity of spirit, and never-ending kindness. And your big box of musical whatnots that made our children giggle! You will be forever in our hearts. Sending love and sympathy to all of Tony's family, friends, and comrades, and especially to our beautiful friend Úna.
A gentleman and wonderful teacher. Always looked forward to his classes and lively debate. Will be missed.
I was so saddened to hear of the sudden loss of Tony. As a former resident of North Abbey Square, I always enjoyed the warm welcome and chat with Tony and Una, who really made the place feel like home. The square certainly won’t be the same again. Sincerest sympathies to Una and all of Tony’s family.
Sincere sympathies and condolences to Tony's wife Úna and to his family and friends. Very sad news. Rest in Peace Tony!
It is obvious from reading the tributes and condolences written in memory of Tony that he lived up to the meaning of his name. Anthony - giving without expecting to receive. May Tony rest in peace.
Deepest sympathies to the Langlois and Feely families on your sad loss. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
I was lucky enough to have Tony for my media lectures in first year at MIC. He was such a lovely man and always so enthusiastic. His lectures were always my favourite to attend. Sending love to all his family.
Sincere sympathies and condolences to Úna, your family, extended family members and friends on Tony's passing. Very sad news and thinking of you at this very difficult time.
I first knew Tony nearly 40 years ago in Hackney; myself and Bernie spent a memorable Christmas with him and Caroline, and Aislinn, in 1987 at their house in Clapton, and this long before either of us had thought of academia as a way to channel our interests. We remained close through his time in Belfast, and when he was teaching in TCD he would visit us, and bring gifts of percussion instruments. I remember when I bought a saz, Tony was the obvious person to approach for advice - and strings. We lost touch through the early years of this century, but we did meet up in Cork once, and had connected through various research groups and his occasional emails were welcome reminders of his distinctive and erudite voice.
My sincere and heartfelt condolences to all his family. A poorer world without him.
Sincere sympathy to Úna, Tony's beloved children , grandchildren, family and large circle of friends /colleagues on his untimely passing. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Tony, you will be hugely missed. Praying and thinking of you all at this very difficult time.
Úna, I am so sorry to hear the news about Tony. He was such a fabulous man and I know how very perfect and happy you both were together. I spotted him walking the dog on North Mall last month when I was in Ireland and am sorry now I didn't take the time to say hello and stop for a chat. I watched the ceremony online and what a gorgeous and fitting send-off you, Aislinn and Pascal have given him. I am thinking of you and sending you my very sincere condolences. Rest in peace, Tony x
I’m deeply sorry to hear of Tony’s passing. I was fortunate to have had Tony as a lecturer and thesis supervisor during my time in Mary I. He was always very generous with his time and his guidance was invaluable. Sincere condolences to all his family, friends and work colleagues.

Sincerest sympathies to Úna, Aislinn and Pascal. Tony will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Requiem for Anthony!
I have known Tony since 1994. He had moved from Oran, Algeria to Oujda, Morocco to complete a Dissertation on Gharnati Music for his PhD. At the time, I was acting chairman of the Department. The Years of Lead had started shaking Algeria following the aborted election results. This had caused him to move to Oujda on advice from the Irish Consulate. Since then our friendship has extended beyond the completion of the Doctoral degree. Tony (Anthony using his full name) continued his ties with Oujda as he paid regular visits to Morocco to attend musical Festivals and/or to meet musical groups he had set up contact with. But the one regular ritual he and I had, was the Fish-lunches at Cape of Water (Capo de Agua, or Qabu Yawa in local darija). Last year he promised to come but failed, I believe due to health problems. I am saddened by the news of his passing away and I would like to pass my sincere condolences to his kin, his wife, his children and grandchildren back there in the French Alpes. May he rest in peace, and may God bless his soul. He was a friend never to forget. Oujda and the students he had contact with will miss him, we will all miss him.
Goodbye my dearest friend, may Allah bless your soul. I will never forget your kindness and generosity. Never. My heart bleeds, and may Allah grant me the courage to accept your loss.
Tony, your departure is premature and heart-breaking, a reminder that none of us knows that the last time we see someone is, in fact, the last time. May your beautiful, caring, generous, fatherly soul rest in peace ❤️ You may be gone, but as long as myself and everyone who knew you are here, you'll live through us, forever in our memories.
I was very sorry to hear of Tony's sudden death. He was a valued colleague and friend, and a valiant contributor to ICTM Ireland. My deepest sympathies go out to his beloved wife Úna and children Pascal and Aislinn. I regret being unable to attend his funeral, but am tied up all day with meetings I agreed to weeks ago. I will be with you in spirit, and online.
Clicked on the bereavement email not expecting it to be someone I knew... Ah Tony, not you! The nicest, most decent, rounded human being, the one who never seemed to get the recognition he deserved. I am immediately back in a seminar room in Trinity listening to Sufi women drummers from that North African border he had to cross, a region where everything else we read was about invisibility and repression of women - thirty years ago? Seems like yesterday. A true kindred spirit, I shall think of him the next tree I plant - a long way away in Donegal, and so Sorry I have no way of getting to the funeral in Cork today. So sorry, full stop. My condolences to all his famiy , friends, and colleagues.
To Una and family. A lovely humanist has left the room. I first met Tony standing next to Una in the Long Valley bar. He was a fascinating character with a friendly smile and taught me a lot about the beautiful channel island that is Jersey. Thank you Tony....
