I was very saddened to hear about Valerie's untimely passing. I have fond memories of her time in Davitt House back in the day. She had the most distinctive and hearty laugh that I think I ever heard. I can still hear it in my mind, all these years later.

I am so sad to hear of Valerie's passing. Her untimely death brings shock and sadness to all who knew her. Valerie was one of a kind, and she always left a lasting impression on people who met her, with her kindness, her sincerity, her decency, her great sense of humour, her fun-loving ways and that fabulous smile! I will always think of Valerie when driving through Mayo. She loved her county, loved Achill and loved her home. What a wonderful lady to have had the privilege of knowing, enjoying her wit, fun and mischief but Valerie could always be counted on when sound advice was needed.
