It was with sadness and sorrow that I heard of the unexpected death of Canon Michael. My deepest sympathies to his family, fellow clergy, and bishop. In these difficult times, it is sad for the parishioners of Killorglin and Cromane who have lost a faithful pastor and familiar voice. My deepest sympathies go to you all.

We were shocked and saddened by the unexpected death of Father Michael, whom we knew over forty years as a Curate in Glenflesk Parish, Diocesan Secretary, Administrator and Priest of Killarney Parish and latterly Parish Priest of Killorglin. He was a good friend, a tough man but gentle at the same time, with a droll sense of humour and great company to be with in any setting.

I knew Fr. Michael in St. Brendan's and in Maynooth and had the pleasure of meeting him now and again in recent years. He was a grand man, and one you could have a good laugh with. Deepest sympathy.
