Earliest memories go back to the time he spent in Mallow in the 60’s when he was a young curate. Throughout life we kept up but last Christmas the absence of his card was concerning. "To live in the midst of the world without wishing it's pleasures;
To be a member of each family yet belonging to none;
To share all sufferings; to penetrate all secrets, to heal all wounds;
To go from men to God and offer Him their prayers;
To return from God to men, to bring pardon and hope;
To teach and to pardon, to console and to bless always;
My God, what a life! And it is yours, O priest of Jesus Christ"
God bless you Fr Colie

Sincere sympathies to family, priests of the diocese, neighbours and friends of Canon Colie O Donovan. It was always a pleasure meeting Canon Colie over the years and he was a great friend of Mary’s late parents Tony and Mary O'Shea. Tony and Canon Colie were both very involved in Midleton CBS PPU and were both part of the the music group at the Mc Auley Day Centre. He lived a wonderful long life giving great service and support as a priest. We met him in October 2024 in Lisgoold Church at a funeral and as ever he was full of smiles and chat and banter about the election. He gave much enjoyment to many through his involvement in many organisations especially the GAA. May Canon Colie Rest in Peace.

I was so saddened to hear of Canon Colie’s passing. My condolences to Bishop Crean and the priests of Cloyne diocese. What a lovely man he was, so good humoured and always great company. I accompanied him on the piano when he sang at his almost weekly visits to the McAuley Day Centre where he loved the chats and the banter but most especially the music and the singing . He had such an interest in people and had a word for everyone.
The Parish Choir had the privilege of singing for his Platinum Jubilee celebration in Midleton church. That was such a special evening, and what fine voice Canon Colie was in when he sang “Panis Angelicus”. It’s a memory myself and the choir will treasure.
Canon Colie will be sorely missed,but we are grateful and richer for having known him. May he now enjoy his eternal reward and may he Rest In Peace

Fr Colie returned to his roots in Lisgoold down through the years and was always on hand to officiate at ceremonies. We have many special memories of Fr Colie officiating at family wedding, funerals and Christenings. Rest in Peace Fr Colie.
I played golf for many years in Thurles with Canon Colie's Maynooth classmate, Monsignor James Ryan of Cashel, who passed away in December 2003, and the conversation would very often turn to the great friendship that the two men had and their student days in the same class in Maynooth College. They are together again now in the company of the blessed, God rest them both
