Bill was a cherished friend of mine since the time we were both teenagers.
He had many remarkable qualities but one that was most admirable was that I truly can’t recall him ever speaking poorly of acquaintances. He was sure to mention some redeeming or mitigating aspect. He was blessed with a wonderful temperament.
I will skip over Bill’s fondness for telling terrible pun jokes but we have all enjoyed or endured them !
One other thing ,however, that deserves comment is his home in Blackrock. I was always struck by the amazing hospitality and generosity there with his mother at the heart of everything good.Bill inherited these traits as I experienced on visits to him in Madrid and Amsterdam .
Bill passing is a great loss but he leaves a legacy of very fond and dear memories.
Deepest sympathies and condolences on the recent passing of William. May he Rest in Peace.
Deepest sympathy to the Stack family on the sad passing of William. May he Rest In Peace

I wish to offer my deep sympathy on the death of Bill. I got to know him well through the Legion of Mary. I found him most pleasant and very committed to his faith. May he rest in peace.

May I offer sincere sympathy to Robert, Mary, Joseph and all the Stack relatives on Bill’s passing. I have lovely memories of sharing long summer days of fun and laughter when Bill and his family came to Ardagh for Summer holidays with Uncle Paddy & Aunt Josie.
May Bill now Rest in Peace. 🙏
My sincere sympathy to all the Stack families. May Bill Rest In Peace.
I remember Bill from the old days in Dublin Corporation and the Interdepartmental soccer tournament in particular.
He was a fine athlete. He was also a friendly and gentle man.
May he rest in peace.
Very sorry to read of Bill’s passing. He was a fine sportsman and colleague in his Sandymount High School days .
He played centre on the only SHS team to win Section A of the Leinster Senior Schools Cup and was winger on the SHS soccer U 16’s team that were unlucky to lose a cup final after a replay.
He was a colleague in Palmerston FC and a traveling companion on many holiday escapades from Benidorm to Rossnowlagh ! May he Rest In Peace. RIP Bill .
So sorry to hear of Bills passing. He came to my Dads funeral in 2015 and was so lovely to see him. I was in Sandymount High School with his sister Mary and Bill was talked about as a great rugby player and was always so nice to me when we met. Condolences to all the family and may Bill rest in peace.
Rest in peace Bill.
My condolences and sympathies to Bill’s family, and friends. I was saddened to learn of his death, though I had not met him for about ten years. From my time with him in Dublin Corporation, I got to know that Bill was good man who gave generously and willingly. I have fond memories of him as busy, joking and smiling. I appreciated his dedication to social justice, his enthusiasm, humour and his love of sport.
May his soul be in heaven. Ar Dheis Dé go bhfuil an Anam Dilis.
Sincere sympathy to the Stack family , from a Cousin.
My Grandmother was a sister of “
Old” Bob Stack , of the Pub etc. RIP.
Saddened to hear about Bill, even though we had not met after I moved to London. Bill's captaincy of the Palmerston 3"A" rugby team was great and he ensured we played hard whilst also partying very well. A coincidence we both broke a leg in the same season and many times we raced on crutches in the bar.
Bill rest in peace.
My sincere sympathy to Bill’s family on the news of his death RIP.
I have very fond memories of Bill from the late 70’s & 80’s. He was one of a kind.
Sincere sympathy to Robert on the death your brother. Condolences also to all the family. May his soul rest in peace.
Deepest condolences to Family, Friends and the staff of Bellvilla on Bill's passing.

I had gotten to know him over the last few months and I really enjoyed any encounters I had with him. He was always up for having a laugh and tried to see the positive side of life in everything.

To all of Bill’s family and friends..
Please accept my very deepest sympathy on the very sad loss of Bill, may he rest in peace.
I remember him so very fondly from our Sandymount High School days where Bill was in my sister Mary and brother-in-law Alan’s class. Bill was the most gentle, caring, lovely person and such fun too…he is in my thoughts and prayers.
I have just come from a beautiful Mass celebrated by Fr. John Hannon in Bellavilla Nursing Home where Bill was so loved and respected by staff who organised the Service. My niece Marie and myself live around the corner from where Bill resided. When he got to know we were from Limerick he delighted in saying 'Up Limerick' every time we met him. My late mother came from Carrickerry/Athea and knew the Stack family of whom she often spoke. Bill was a gentleman and we miss him going up and down the road but we know he was so well looked after since he was too ill to live on his own. May Bill rest in peace. Helen & Marie Sweeney
